Mindset
At the Mad About The Voice Ireland event I won a chocolate biscuit cake in the raffle. It was delicious. I know because I ate most of it. Brad had some, but not much.
I am sure you can imagine that knowing how much I had eaten this week played heavily on my mind as I walked into Weight Watchers this morning.
There was no class as such, because it is race week here in Galway. It was just a weigh and go. I walked in knowing I would be up, but prepared to take the hit.
As Phil, my WW leader, says: "When you have had a bad week, that is when you need a class." She is right. Skipping meetings does not work. Trust me, I have tried. The old "I will have a good week next week and go back with the weight off" only leads to more gain and solves nothing.
So in I walked, head held high, accepting my failure and knowing I could work past it.
"You are half a pound down," said Phil.
I was speechless. It happens sometimes. I was sure I was going to be up. I had accepted it. I had done the same the week before, gone in expecting to be up after the BLTs, and was still down.
So I read back last week's entry, thought more about this week's weigh-in, and came to the conclusion that my head really is in the right space. I have been saying it, but now I actually believe it. I am consciously counting my points even if I am not tracking them on paper or in the app. I am losing weight each week. I am accepting the risk of being up, but not looking at it as failure. It is a lesson. Why do I think I will be up? What have I done well? What do I need to change?
Another good week. That is 9lb lost over four weeks. I will take that. Ever closer to the 100 pounds from Juzz.
