July Writing Challenge – Day One – 6th July
06 Jul 2026 · 1 min
The prompts chosen at random are:
- Genre: Mystery
- Form/Constraint: Epistolary
- Word Count: 1,000
The fact I didn’t choose the form or the genre myself, makes it all the more interesting for me. There’s something invigorating about being handed a set of constraints and seeing what they unlock. A random prompt can push you in directions you wouldn’t normally take, and that’s often where the best surprises live.
So the task is simple: take the given elements and make something complete, atmospheric, and satisfying within the word count. I’m excited to see what emerges, and I’ll share the finished piece on Friday!
